Landry McMeans’ “Cereus Cactus” is among the American West-depicted pieces she’s presenting in a solo show at Art Science Gallery.

This solo show features the work of Landry McMeans: specifically, her abstract reliefs and landscapes of the American West, with new inspiration from the Colorado River. In her hands, mountain ranges and other landscape features become groups of simple lines and colors, reducing the contours of the natural world into three-dimensional geometric shapes.

She evokes the natural history of the Southwestern deserts and native plant and animal species in a minimal style.

Details: Opening reception 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday through Sept. 17. 916 Springdale Road, Building 2 #102.
