A pioneer creative enterprise on South Congress Avenue — long before Austin had a SoCo — Yard Dog Gallery opened in 1995, at first showing folk and outsider art from the American South. Soon, however, Yard Dog began representing artists of varied backgrounds who share a kind of new Americana style and many artists who have a connection to music.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Yard Dog hosts a double-header with Jon Langford and Steve Wynn. Welsh-born, Chicago-based Langford — former drummer of seminal punk band the Mekons — is best known for his striking portraits of music icons including Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Los Angeles-based Wynn, a longtime player in underground bands, makes his artistic debut.
