Emily Austen, a contract sideline reporter for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Orlando Magic, will no longer appear in Fox Sports Sun broadcasts after appearing in a Facebook Live video where she made several racist comments, including one about Crockett High School valedictorian Mayte Lara.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Austen, who was paid per game and was never employed or paid by the Rays, appeared on a Barstool Sports Facebook Live video on June 9. During the course of the video, she discussed topical sports news of the day with the show’s hosts David Portnoy (Presidente), Dan Katz (Big Cat) and Kevin Clancy (KFC). Those topics included Johnny Manziel’s latest antics, Kevin Love’s poor performance in Game 3 of the NBA Finals and, at the 24:00 mark, Crockett High School valedictorian Mayte Lara.

“I didn’t even know Mexicans were that smart,” Austen says of Lara at the 25:30 mark. “Wait, that’s f—– up, I didn’t mean it like that, like…you guys know that the Chinese guy is always the smartest guy in math class,” she continued.

“I like that, you get yourself out of a stereotype with another stereotype,” Katz said.

Austen continued: “Everybody thinks that…I love all people, I don’t care if you’re white, yellow, brown, purple…”

After a question about Jewish people from one of the hosts, Austen offered her opinion on that demographic as well.

“The way I used to talk to the Jews in Boca… I just didn’t care. They would complain and bitch about everything. I gave a guy, delivered his beer, and he was complaining to me that there was too much head. I knew that he was a stingy a–hole, and he wasn’t going to give me a tip.”

Oh, and she also repeatedly called Cleveland Cavaliers center Kevin Love “a little b—-.”

“We were made aware that Emily Austen appeared in a social media video unaffiliated with Fox Sports in which she made insensitive and derogatory comments. She was not speaking on behalf of Fox Sports, nor do we condone any of the statements she made in the video. Emily has been advised that her comments were unacceptable, and she is not scheduled to appear on any upcoming Fox Sports Florida or Fox Sports Sun broadcasts,” a statement issued Friday by Fox Sports Florida said.
