For the third year in a row the Fader Fort (presented by Converse), one of the hottest grown-up side parties of the South by Southwest Music Festival, is presenting a special kids’ show for little rockers and their moms and dads. Headlining this year’s event are folk rock favorites Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and breezy California pop act Best Coast. The party runs from 10 a.m. to noon, Thurs. March 19 on the main stage at the Fader Fort (1101 E 5th St., Pine St. Station). Also on the lineup are the Heartless “Bathtubs,” an acoustic set from the Zombies, Hey Marseilles, Reverend Peyton’s Big “Dang” Band and more.
The event will feature a pre-show kids’ craft zone and a kid-centric vibe runs through all the performances. The venue has a dirt floor, but blankets and chairs are welcome. It’s free for little ones ten and under but mom and dad will have to spring for $20 advance tickets ($25 day of show). One hundred percent of ticket proceeds benefit MyMusicRx, a special Portland-based program that provides bedside and online programs to kids facing cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Last year the show sold out so advance tickets are recommended.
