One of Austin’s most popular food trucks has a new home. East Side King’s Thai Kun truck, which serves spicy Thai food created by chef Thai Changthong, opens this afternoon at Steampunk Saloon at 700 W. Sixth St. Lovers of “Old Austin” will certainly roll their eyes at the odd concept taking over the former Opal Divine’s space, and it will be interesting to see how the fierce Thai flavors play with the West Sixth crowd. Changthong and ESK partner Paul Qui have talked about how Changthong’s spicy food is perfect for beer drinking or for sobering up after a night of drinking, so the colorful food truck may have found a perfect home amid the bars in the area.

The original location at Whisler’s on East Sixth has proven extremely popular, now we’ll see if the draw can be replicated at the other (safe to say less adventurous end) of Sixth Street. Thai Kun will also open a brick-and-mortar location at the Domain next year.

East Side King’s Thai Kun is open Wednesday-Sunday from 4 p.m. to 1:45 a.m.
