“Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.” The first two “Dark Souls” games had a reputation for being notoriously difficult (or “Challenging” for even expert game players). Rated M for Mature. $40-$60 for PS3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. .

“Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.” A remake of the classic role-playing game available only for the new Nintendo 3DS (due to processing power and new buttons on the game system). Rated T for Teen. $40, for 3DS.
