Josie Paredes, (@paredesjosie) who runs the La Fantabulous food truck, has spent plenty of years in fine dining kitchens, so she recently started a monthly pop-up restaurant series called Nelly Nights to release some of that pent-up culinary ambition. The next dinner is Oct. 25 at Blue Star Cafeteria. During last month’s dinner, she served prosciutto-wrapped shrimp with blueberry compote, a dish she created while at Eddie V’s. Find tickets by searching “Nelly Nights” on Facebook.)
Brent Mills (@brent_mills), a chef from Australia who recently moved to Austin to work at Buenos Aires Cafe on East Sixth Street, has been showing off some of his new dishes on the menu, including these fried salt cod and potato soufflés served with sour cream, sweet chilli and lemon.
Charlene Oulds, who Instagrams as @coulds21, recently shared this comforting photo of a comforting breakfast at Blue Dalia on East 11th Street.
Tacos aren’t the only thing you can get at Papalote Taco House, 2803 S. Lamar Blvd. Arianna Trevino (@twentytwoplates) recently had the torta cubana packed with ham, bacon, headcheese and franks, not to mention tomatoes, onions, avocado and lettuce.
Round Two of the Austin City Limits Music Festival starts this weekend, but @rebeccateng12 has already been there, done that. Keeping her fueled on Saturday of last weekend’s festival were these sloppy nachos with chopped brisket from the Salt Lick, which she called “the holy grail and quite possibly the highlight of my day.”//storify.com/broylesa/austin.js?border=false&template=grid[View the story “Austin360Eats: October 2015” on Storify]
