If you’re not willing to brave the cold tonight or entertaining at home, you’re in luck! Local musical mad scientist Roger Sellers dropped this little gem, an original reworking of the classic Scottish ode "Auld Lang Syne" featuring San Marcos avant folk band the Deer. Traditionally the song is played at the stroke of midnight, right after the ball, or the apple, or the star you’re watching on TV drops.

For the record, my Scottish grandmother hated the song, but she loved the holiday. In true Scots style she used to tipsily throw open the front door at the stroke of midnight shouting "Happy New Year" to her equally tipsy neighbors.

Feel free to blare Roger Sellers and drunkenly shout at your neighbors, but if you are wandering intoxicatedly around the world tonight (perhaps taking in one of these New Year’s Eve gigs) please don’t drive.
