OUT THIS WEEK

Joe Ely & Linda Ronstadt, “Where Is My Love” iTunes single (Rack ’Em). We don’t usually include singles in our weekly roundup of local releases, but this one’s a special case. Unearthed from a 1987 recording session that also included Austinites Mitch Watkins on guitar and the late Bill Ginn on keyboards, the duet recording of R.C. Banks’ classic tune never appeared on an Ely or Ronstadt album. (Ely has performed it often in concert, and it’s featured without Ronstadt on his “Live at Liberty Lunch” and “Live Cactus” discs.) The release comes on the heels of Ely’s recent publication of his first novel, “Reverb: An Odyssey.” Ely performs Dec. 26-27 at Strange Brew.

Timberos Del Norte, self-titled. Grammy-winning trombonist/arranger Raul “Ralo” Vallejo and pianist/producer Paul “Pauly” Matthews spearhead this 10-piece outfit featuring multilayerd vocals and horns in an impressive and enticing 12-song collection of heavily rhythmic Cuban jazz and pop. Release show Dec. 18 at One-2-One Bar. Here’s the track “Tiki-Tiki”:
