It started last year at the Fader Fort, when the newly reformed Afghan Whigs (singer/songwriter Greg Dulli, guitarist Rick McCollum and bassist John Curly, plus additional musicians) played a ripping set of old songs and realized it was time to make some new music. In January , the Whigs released the reunion album “Do to the Beast,” their first record in 16 years. Unfortunately, they also announced in February that McCollum was no longer part of the band and that his parts on the album were played by others. That’s too bad, but rave reviews have greeted Dulli and co. ever since they got back in the saddle. They play the Mohawk on Halloween. No word if this means they will be dressed in costume, but it would surprise exactly nobody if a few cool covers are played.
