"Burton Pritzker: Illusions." Trained as an architect, photographer Burton Pritzker trains his lens on the essential form and composition of any subject he’s photographing. "Everything is also something else," Pritzker has said. "When I look at anything through a camera, I sense another world, another reality beyond what I see. If the photograph I take is successful, that ‘other world’ comes into being almost by magic, a kind of alchemy. My aim is not to record something, it is to reveal a something else."Artist’s reception: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Exhibit continues through June 20. Photo Methode Gallery, Flatbed Building, 2832 E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Free. photomethode.com

West Austin Studio Tour: Ink Tank Vending Machine. As a special event of the West Austin Studio Tour, the ever-clever art collective Ink Tank will present its latest creation — a repurposed soda vending machine rigged to dispense (or play) audio clips of sounds recorded around and indicative of Austin’s current and rapidly changing cityscape. Beyond serving to encapsulate and dispense the sounds of Austin, the vending machine will also function as a community bulletin board with cork panels for information fliers and posters. The vending machine will be free to operate but any money collected will be donated to local non-profits. The project is sponsored by Art Alliance Austin. 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Republic Square Park, Guadalupe and East Fifth streets. Free. www.artallianceaustin.org/events
