South by Southwest Interactive on Thursday announced "MythBusters" co-host Adam Savage as the second keynote speaker for the March 2014 festival. The famous skeptic, who has a background in special effects and industrial design, will speak on Monday, March 10.
Earlier this week, the festival posted the bulk of its programming chosen for SXSWi ‘14, about 500 panels and presentations. The opening keynote speaker, author Austin Kleon, was announced before that and a new sports component of SXSW, SXsports, also made news earlier this month.
The festival plans to release a shorter set of programming on Nov. 11. SXSW Interactive 2014 runs March 7 to March 11. Registration for the fest is currently $895 but the price will rise after Friday to $995.

Fun Fun Fun Nites
Fun Fun Fun Fest has announced the schedule for the Fest’s Nites program. Those events begin on Thursday, Nov. 7, and continue through Sunday, Nov. 10. Nites events are free to anyone with a Fun Fun Fun Fest wristband (venue capacity permitting), which marks a big difference between FFF Fest and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Many of these events look like pretty outstanding options for Fun Fun Fun fans who don’t want to shut the party down at 10 p.m.
Promising Friday night gigs include the Belmont show with Manchester DJ Star Slinger on the outside stage and indie legend Bob Mould handling turntable duties inside, and Red 7 inside where Thurston Moore’s Chelsea Light Moving will play. Saturday night seems like it’s fixin’ to be all around off the chain. The Men headline at the ND, Tenacious D plays the Mohawk outside and Flatbush Zombies open for Del the Funkee Homosapien at the Belmont outside. Meanwhile, Red 7 will reverberate with all sorts of soul with Latasha Lee, Brownout and Lee Fields and the Expressions outside, and Jonathan Toubin hosting his Soul Clap party inside.
Then to cap things off on Sunday, alongside all the music, there’s a killer comedy show at Stateside at the Paramount featuring Sarah Silverman.
