Calling all beginners
Want to tackle a triathlon?
The YMCA of Austin is offering co-ed and women's-only triathlon training programs for people who want to race in their first multisport event.
The 10-week women-only program will prepare participants for the Danskin Triathlon in June. Women can continue training beyond Danskin, with late-season programming.
The co-ed Triathlon Club will include group bicycle rides, group runs and open-water swims.
Classes will run April 10 to June 3 at the Northwest Family YMCA, 5807 McNeil Drive, and all ages and fitness levels are welcome. Noon and evening programs are available. Classes are open to YMCA of Austin members and nonmembers.
Coaches are certified by USA Triathlon. Classes will coincide with several local races, so participants peak at the right time.
