School is back in session, but September’s lineup of festivals is still sizzling all across the Lone Star State. From Texas-size fairs and rodeos to coastal celebrations, travel to these towns to get your fill of fun this month.

South Padre Island

Now-Sept. 3: Beach-lovers can still savor summer by soaking up some sand, sun and fun on South Padre Island over the long holiday weekend, where summertime activities spanning paddleboarding, sunset cruising and sandcastle-building are still in full swing. Abilene

Sept. 6-15: Saddle up for 10 days of fun at the West Texas Fair and Rodeo taking place at the Expo Center of Taylor County. Expect everything from delicious food, carnival rides and children’s activities to live musical entertainment, a weeklong PRCA rodeo and tractor pulls.
