A new restaurant from the minds behind Austin’s beloved Kerbey Lane Cafe is opening -- but it isn’t a new location of the legendary breakfast joint.

According to the Austin Business Journal, the chain is opening a new concept on South Lamar Boulevard near the Zach Theatre. Kerbey Lane CEO Mason Ayer told the ABJ the chain hasn’t decided what the restaurant will be called or what type of food will be served, but said he wants it “to be a place where new Austinites feel welcome and also feel like they’ve come in and gotten a really great value, high-quality meal in an urban environment.”

The restaurant will likely open in 2019 and will “be open early, close late and the prices won’t break the piggy bank,” the ABJ reports, and the chain has enlisted Joe Anguiano, who joined Kerbey Lane as executive chef earlier this year, to develop the menu.

A new location of Kerbey Lane Cafe is slated to open in the Mueller area later this year. The restaurant has seven other Austin-area locations.
