On Monday, singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves announced the North American dates for her “Oh, What a World” tour supporting her most recent release, “Golden Hour.”
The tour hits Austin next spring, when Musgraves will do a two-night stand at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on March 9-10.
In case you were wondering, yes, those dates do coincide with the 2019 South by Southwest Festival and Conference which kicks off on March 8, but the Stubb’s shows are not part of the festival. Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m.
Before we write off a SXSW appearance by Musgraves completely, it’s worth noting that she has a break in her tour after the Austin shows that lasts until March 19. The festival ends on March 17.
Musgraves is no stranger to Austin. She has played our eponymous television show “Austin City Limits” twice, most recently last month when she “charmed the crowd with her radiant singing and an easygoing personality.”
She was also in town with Little Big Town in February.
Musgraves has also played Willie Nelson’s New Year’s Eve Party, his Fourth of July Picnic and his Luck Reunion. In 2015, she and Willie teamed up to film the video for her honky tonk tearjerker, “Are You Sure” at the White Horse.
She played Austin City Limits Festival in 2016. Earlier that year, she was the first country music artist ever to headline the Fader Fort during SXSW week.
