Break out the big hats -- it’s time for the Kentucky Derby. Here’s where to watch the race and take part in the celebrations on May 5.

Kentucky Derby Day at Four Seasons Hotel in Austin. Enjoy race-themed decor, live music, mint juleps, a derby hat pop-up shop, costume contest and more. Tickets are $25 each and the party runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

?Deck Nine’s Derby Day Patio Party. The rooftop patio at Boiler Nine Bar + Grill is throwing a party starting at 3 p.m. featuring special $5 themed cocktails and snacks. A second “Durty” hip-hop dance party starts at 8 p.m. with more food and drink specials. It’s free to attend! 

Down & Derby at Mercury Hall. The party benefits The Shade Project, an Austin-based nonprofit on a mission to prevent skin cancer. Don your finest hats and bow ties for the live auction, craft cocktails and Southern food and a fundraising program. Tickets are $100 each.

Cinco de Derby at Haymaker and Black Sheep Lodge. The party starts early at 11 a.m., but starting in the afternoon the bars will have a hat making station, mint juleps, margaritas, a best-dressed contest and racing forms. 

?Down & Derby at Geraldine’s. Celebrate the race with hot brown sandwiches, frozen juleps served in trophy cups and other fun party favors. When the races aren’t being screened, there will be live music performances. The party starts at 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public. 

?Kentucky Derby Party at Kitty Cohen’s. Sunning on the patio for the derby? Yes, please. Enjoy mint julips and a popup meal from Yer Mama ‘n Dems.

Derby party at The Yard at Waller Creek. The bar is offering all-day drink specials starting at noon featuring Bulleit Bourbon cocktails.

Derby Day at Domain Northside. Don your derby best and enjoy music, lawn games, juleps and a best-dressed competition starting at 4 p.m. 

??Victory Cup Polo Match & Kentucky Derby Party.? Ever watched a live polo match? Well, you can do it in the hours before the Kentucky Derby. Then you can watch the races on a huge jumbotron on the polo field. The party starts at 11 a.m. Saturday.
