The restaurant from owner and Mexican native Jose De Loera, who also owns El Tacorrido, opened in 2010, earning former Statesman restaurant critic Mike Sutter’s distinction as the casual newcomer of the year. The restaurant, which helped change the face of East Austin dining, was popular for its tacos ( including the excellent verduras), tortas, queso fundido, brunch and cocktails, as well as its sprawling space, with multiple indoor and outdoor seating areas.

De Loera leases the space for years to a Colombian restaurant, so one assumes when the restaurant says the closure is temporary, we can take them at their word. We’ll update this post as more information becomes available.
