High-octane TV personality Guy Fieri highlighted two Texas cities for his latest Food Network show, “Guy’s Family Road Trip”— but they might not be the places you’d expect.
Rather than going to Austin, Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth, which arguably get the most attention in this state, the chef is taking his family to San Antonio and Corpus Christi in the episodes. The first one premieres 8 p.m. Aug. 25 with the title “Remember the Lone Star State” because he’s starting, of course, in the Alamo City.
And that’s where he actually goes, too: to the Alamo to brush his family up on good ol’ Texas history, according to CultureMap. From there, Fieri, along with fellow celebrity chef Robert Irvine, cooks up a feast for the troops at Lackland Air Force Base that includes tri-tip French dip, pork tacos and Cajun chicken alfredo. That’s probably a meal the Air Force won’t soon forget.
The next Texas-centric episode premieres the following week, on Sept. 1, and will feature Corpus Christi. In “Gulf Dreams,” Fieri and his family will fish in the Gulf Coast for snapper and fry up their catch at a nearby ranch.
In “Guy’s Family Road Trip,” Texas is far from the only stop for Fieri and fam. Other destinations include New Orleans, the Grand Canyon and Lake Tahoe.
