The winner of the narrative film category at this year’s Austin Film Festival will receive a video-on-demand distribution deal from newly announced AFF sponsor Gravitas Ventures. The distribution award will be in addition to the cash prize of $2,500 and reimbursement for airfare and hotel. Gravitas Ventures, which works with more than 500 content partners to connect independent filmmakers with cable, satellite and online distributors, recently helped release Dave Grohl’s documentary "Sound City." AFF says that the deal with Gravitas could give the winning filmmaker the potential to reach 100 million homes. The deadline for film entries for this year’s AFF is July 15.
