Tim League may have bitten off more than he can chew with this year’s Fantastic Debates. Yes, he’s taken on Michelle Rodriguez before, but this year promises to be the Alamo Drafthouse CEO’s biggest challenge.
As part of the annual verbal and physical brawling event, League will go toe-to-toe with "Man of Tai Chi" director Keanu Reeves in a verbal debate on September 21. No, that’s not the hard part. After their debate, League will enter the ring to fight "Man of Tai Chi" star Tiger Hu. Dude’s name is Tiger. And he’s billed as a "superhuman master of form and combat."
The premise to be resolved in the debate is: "Tai Chi is a martial art relegated to elderly Chinese women and is inferior in every way to Tae Kwon Do."
This should get ugly.
It won’t be the only event with possible screaming and shrieking. Fantastic Fest will host its annual "Chaos Reigns Karaoke Party" at Alamo Lakeline on September 20. And rumor has it that members of Metallica, who will be in attendance at the fest for a screening of "Metallica Through the Never 3D," may be on hand to act as honorary judges.
