Skateboards, BMX bikes and motocross cycles could be catching big air in Austin next year, if the city wins a bid to land the ESPN Summer X Games.

A public rally is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Capitol grounds to show support for the bid, led by Circuit of The Americas, where much of the games would take place.

The rally is free and will feature a BMX and skateboard street course, mechanical bull riding, a foam party, bouncing boxing, gladiator jousting and more. Watsky will perform, along with P-TEK, Tee-Double and DJ Supreme. Contestants in the Miss X Games Austin pageant will be on hand and food trucks will sell refreshments.

Austin is one of four finalists, including Charlotte, N.C., Chicago and Detroit, in contention to host the event.

ESPN officials will be visiting Austin this week to conduct a site visit and will announce the new host city later this summer.
