Austin triathletes will get a chance to race one of the sport’s best at this year’s TriRock Austin Triathlon, set for Sept. 2 at Auditorium Shores.

Chris "Macca" McCormack, who won the Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2007 and 2010, will compete in the sprint version of the Austin event, which also includes an Olympic distance race and a three-person relay.

"I simply love Austin," McCormack said in a press release. "It’s an amazing city with so much to do. I’m always excited to get back to Texas."

The event includes a swim in Lady Bird Lake and music along the downtown cycling and running routes, followed by a post-race party and finish line concert.

More than 2,000 participants are expected at the event, created by the same company that stages the Rock ‘N Roll Marathon Series.

Entry fee is $145 for the sprint distance ($185 for the sprint relay) or $165 for the Olympic distance ($220 for Olympic relay) at www.trirockseries.com. Prices increase Aug. 22.
