Rogue Running makes its move this week from east to west.
After regular business hours Wednesday, employees will pack up the space at the corner of Fifth Street and San Marcos Street, haul everything across town and re-open Thursday evening at what they’re calling the 410 Speedshop at 410 Pressler Street.
I got a quick glimpse of the new digs after the Black-Eyed Pea run on New Year’s Day, and it looks positively cavernous.
Rogue’s owners say with one new condo project under construction and another planned at the old location, they were losing most of their parking. That’s a problem, especially on weekends, when runners head out from the shop on their long runs. Second, the store needs more training space and better changing room facilities.
They settled on an 11,000-square foot former car repair warehouse just a few blocks from the trail that they’ll share with Pure Austin Gym. They’re calling it the evolution of their "athlete’s village" vision.
The first official training group runs will depart the new Rogue world headquarters this Saturday.
