The rotisserie chicken game in Austin is getting a new competitor. Counter-service restaurant Mighty Bird will open two locations later this summer, serving rotisserie chicken served in tacos and wraps using homemade flour and corn tortillas, salads, and half or whole rotisserie chickens to go.

The two North Austin stores will be located at 2900 W. Anderson Ln. and 12200 Hwy 183. Mighty Bird will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The venture comes from partners Brendan Puthoff (Third Base, Hickory Street) and Kaleb Smith, who’ve brought on chef Camden Stuerzenberger (Hickory Street) to create the menu.

Sample menu items include the Southwest salad with roasted poblano peppers and onions, avocado, tomato, corn, tortilla strips and cheese; the chicken verde wrap with rotisserie chicken, rice, hatch green chiles, sour cream and cheese; and the signature taco, the Mighty Bird, with chicken, avocado, cheese and Mighty Sauce (a spicy concoction flavored with Sriracha sauce). And, of course, breakfast tacos.
