Gelateria Dolce Neve will open its doors in December at 1713 S. 1st Street on the increasingly popular strip of road home to Bouldin Creek Cafe, Lenoir and El Chile.
The shop, owned by brother and sister Marco and Francesca Silvestrini, and Francesca’s fiancee Leo Ferrarese, will serve gelato made daily with locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, organic fresh milk from Mill-King Market & Creamery in McGregor, with no artificial flavorings, preservatives, or thickeners added.
Francesca Silvestrini trained at Carpigiani Gelato University and worked at the famous Gelateria De’ Coltelli in Pisa. Dolce Neve (which means "sweet snow" in Italian") will feature about 20 different flavors, including traditional Italian favorites hazelnut, pistachio, and stracciatella (chocolate chip), as well as creative combinations using seasonal local products sourced by John Lash of Farm to Table.
The farmhouse-style space will be designed by Dick Clark and feature upcycled flooring and furniture. The shop will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday.
Dolce Neve will make its Austin debut Thursday night, fittingly, at La Dolce Vita at Laguna Gloria.
