A public memorial for Steven Fromholz, who rose to prominence as a country-folk singer-songwriter in Austin in the 1970s, will be held Sunday, Feb. 2, from noon to 4 p.m. at The Palm Door on Sixth, 508 E. Sixth St.

Friends and family will play music and share memories about Fromholz, who died Jan. 19 in a ranching accident in West Texas. The family requests donations in Fromholz’s name to be made to Health Alliance for Austin Musicians; to Fort McKavett, a historic site where Fromholz was interred on Jan. 24 (Friends of Fort McKavett Historic Site, P.O. Box 87, Fort McKavett, TX 76841); or to the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission.

An extensive collection of personal memories about Fromholz is gathered at stevenfromholzmemorial.com.
