Clear Channel Media and Entertainment announced Wednesday a March 29 date at the Erwin Center for the inaugural iHeartRadio Country Festival, featuring about a dozen of country radio’s top contemporary hitmakers including Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum and Florida Georgia Line.
Though it’s billed as a festival, it’s really more of a revue-style show, with a 7:30 p.m. start time and short performances by each artist. Other acts on the bill include Jason Aldean (who’s also at the Erwin Center this Friday opening for George Strait), Eric Church, Hunter Hayes, Jake Owen and Dan + Shay, with others to be announced. Syndicated country radio personality Bobby Bones will be the emcee. The show, not part of a tour but a one-off date in Austin only, will also be aired live by Clear Channel country affiliates nationwide.
Ticket prices have not yet been announced, but they go on sale Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m., via TexasBoxOffice.com, at select H-E-B stores, and by phone at 512-477-6060 or 800-982-2386.
The iHeartRadio event is the second gathering of major country acts on the books for Austin in 2014, following the November announcement about Jeff Foxworthy’s new Red Fest shindig at Circuit of the Americas on Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25). The lone artist booked for both events is Florida Georgia Line.
