KUTX’s Mapjam celebrated a successful second year back in February. Crowds packed traditional and non-traditional venues throughout East Austin as a variety of Austin bands from various genres played. The day-long minifest is imagined as a physical manifestation of the station’s Austin Music Map, a virtual guide to the city’s music scene.

Now the station is branching out into South Austin with Summer Jam 2014, a scaled back version of the event scheduled to take place on June 21 at Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company located on Oltorf St. in Austin’s iconic 78704. The event runs from roughly 3 to 6 p.m. and features Gumbo Ce Soir playing Cajun music, Cilantro Boombox playing a mashup of reggae, afrobeat and Latin styles and Holiday Mountain playing psychedelic, electro-dub. The best part? It’s a free, all ages show.
