A familiar face is returning to lead the Univision 62 newsroom.
Ismael Martínez has been tapped to serve as the station’s new news director.
He most recently served as news and operations supervisor at the Univision station in San Antonio. Before that, Martínez held a variety of positions at Univision 62 from 2003 to 2014, including news director, executive producer, assignments editor and producer.
“We’re pleased to welcome Ismael back to the Univision Austin family,” said Danny Lowry, Univision’s Austin vice president and general manager. “He has a proven track record as a hard-working and insightful news professional, and I know that he will help us deliver on our goal of providing the best news coverage of the issues that matter most to our community.”
Martínez replaces Miguel Gaytán, who took over as news director at the Telemundo station in Phoenix earlier this summer.]]
