Mother Nature can’t stop the 87th Annual Zilker Kite Festival. Despite a drizzly forecast, the festival will continue on as scheduled. Organizers say the National Weather Service has determined that any rain occurring on Sunday would amount to less than a tenth of an inch. Wind conditions are predicted to be ideal for kite flying.
The free kite festival is open to flyers and spectators alike. Vendor booths will open at 10 a.m., registration for the various kite contests begin at 11 a.m., and the events begin at 1 p.m. The festival closes at 5 p.m.
If conditions change unexpectedly (as they do in the great state of Texas), the festival will be moved to March 8, according to the website.
