After 10 years Salvage Vanguard Theater will have to vacate its location, a 6,000-square-foot converted warehouse on Manor Road, artistic director Jenny Larson announced today.

The theater company’s lease expires June 30, 2016, and Larson said a new landlord has not offered them the opportunity to renew.

The indie theater group moved into the Manor Road building in 2006, carving out a 99-seat theater and a 49-seat theater along with scene shop, storage, office space and workshop space.

In addition to staging its own production SVT has been home to dozens of arts productions and served as regular performance venue for Trouble Puppet Theater Company and KDH Dance Company, among other Austin arts groups.

KDH Dance artistic director said Kathy Dunn Hammrick: "SVT has become a home for our dance company and for our audiences. SVT is the only theater in Austin that is affordable, suitable for my work and available during our season. I can honestly say that without SVT, I don’t know where I would be able to present our dance season."

Public records show the property at 2803 Manor Road, as well neighboring parcels, have belonged to a family partnership trust since 1979. Calls to the owner’s representative were not immediately returned.
