Olamaie co-executive chef Grae Nonas has been selected as one of five James Beard Foundation Rising Star semi-finalist chefs to participate in the Taste of Waldorf Astoria event in Amsterdam in early November. The four day event will feature collaborations between the Beard honorees and five Waldorf Astoria master chefs. Nonas will collaborate with Sidney Schutte, executive chef at two Michelin-star Restaurant Librije’s Zusje in Amsterdam’s Waldorf Astoria. This is the second year for the global partnership between the hotel chain and the Beard Foundation.

“In the spirit of founder James Beard, a champion of American cuisine, we are delighted to once again partner with Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, an iconic brand that has made numerous notable contributions to America’s culinary heritage,”  James Beard Foundation president Susan Ungaro. “We are looking forward to giving our Rising Star Chefs semifinalists a global perspective, collaborating with Waldorf Astoria’s Master Chefs worldwide to create a contemporary iconic dish.”

Following the November event, the participating chefs will prepare their dishes next February for a panel of judges, and the winning Taste of Waldorf Astoria dish will appear on the menu at all 25 of the Waldorf’s hotels around the world.
