With rain predicted through the day and heavy thunderstorms in the forecast for tonight, Austin Reggae Fest organizers made the decision to cancel Sunday’s programming this morning.
"We are as disappointed as you are about this cancellation. However, with thunder and lightning forecast for most of the day in Austin, our number one priority remains the safety of attendees, vendors and staff," festival organizers wrote on austinreggaefest.com.
This is the second year in a row, the event, the largest single fundraiser of the year for Capital Area Food Bank of Texas has been hit with weather woes. Last year, storms shut down the fest before the headline sets on Friday night and Sunday’s set, a 50th anniversary performance from groundbreaking ska act the Skatalites was cancelled. Last night the ska legends played a make up set at the fest.
