Austinites aren’t the only ones enchanted by the elegant la V in East Austin: Wine Enthusiast recently included the wine-focused restaurant in its list naming top wine restaurants in the U.S.

In “America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants 2015,” Wine Enthusiast notes that la V is one of the places to go in Austin for a stellar glass of wine — or two. “With over 1,200 selections, this Provence-inspired eatery boasts the deepest wine list in Austin, housed in an industrial building that comprises a casual wine bar, chic lounge, outdoor seating and a luxe dining room,” the magazine writes.

It’s one of our top restaurants, too. In last year’s Austin360 Dining Guide, restaurant critic Matthew Odam rated la V as the ninth best restaurant in the city, saying in part: “Owner Ralph Eads aspires for LaV to have one of the country’s best wine lists, and it is certainly a marvel. Even though its prices climb to absurd heights, it remains accessible for those looking to spend less than $100 a bottle, thanks in part to the guidance of effervescent wine director Vilma Mazaite and her educated staff.” (Feel free to drool over the decor, too, with this Austin360 photo gallery.)

Celebrate the Wine Enthusiast accolade with la V at an upcoming event at the restaurant. La V is throwing a Bastille Day party on July 14 and Riesling on the Green on July 19. To attend either, you’ll need to make reservations by calling 512-391-1888 or emailing

La V was one of only four Texas restaurants to receive recognition in Wine Enthusiast. Houston’s Pass & Provisions and Underbelly, as well as Dallas’ FT33, got nods as well.
