The executive director of 91.7 KOOP-FM is stepping down to take a position with the city of Austin.
The noncommercial, community-focused radio station said Wednesday that Kim McCarson is leaving after 10 years to become economic and business development liaison for the city’s Music and Entertainment Division, which is a part of the Economic Development Department.
“It’s hard to say goodbye,” McCarson said, “but I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished at KOOP in the last 10 years.”
Cynthia McFarlin, who is KOOP’s development coordinator, will serve temporarily as the station’s executive director.
McFarlin “is a capable leader and business manager,” McCarson said. “The station will be in good hands during this transition.”
A search for a permanent replacement has already started, the station said.]]
