Lo, and on Tuesday, the heavens opened and tears of joy (and sadness) poured down like emotionally complex rain. Illinois band and stuff of emo legend American Football released a new song and announced a forthcoming album.

Though frontman Mike Kinsella has steadily released music through his solo project, Owen, since the band broke up (including a new album earlier this year), new material from American Football would have been unthinkable a year ago. Some good news, before the summer ends.
