Musician Jon Batiste transported ACL festivalgoers to a hip New Orleans jazz club during his performance Friday at the Sculpture stage. The impressive 25-year-old piano virtuoso skilled in classical and jazz music has been earning recognition for giving the music edge, making it accessible and taking it to the streets.
From spoken word to a jazz version of the national anthem on the piano, Batiste and his band Stay Human lit up crowds with an energizing embrace of soulful sounds and danceable rhythms that kept fans moving. Batiste also managed to create a cool version of Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” for a new generation of listeners.
