Genuinely excited to perform for the ACL masses, British singer/songwriter and guitarist James Bay looked out at the enthusiastic crowd and said, "This is blowing my mind. I’m at ACL!" The long-haired 23-year-old brought an easy breezy start to the festival with his folk-pop tunes including songs from his EP "Let it Go."

Bay chatted with the crowd often about everything from his long distance relationship, which inspired the song "Scars" to how he couldn’t believe he was at the festival. Bay wore his signature hat and had his female fans swooning. "Cutie," they shouted.

His earnest demeanor came through with each song and interaction with the audience. "It’s sinking in," he said about his first ACL experience. The talented young musician to watch switched guitars often, at one point not being able to decide which one he wanted to play, and was accompanied by a keyboard and percussionist.

His catchy pop melodies also exude a sincerity that’s moving and seems to attract a loyal fan base. Before Bay wrapped up the set, he took a photo with the crowd. "Wow," he said. "This is definitely not London."
