Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin

The Blanton has a permanent collection of more than 17,000 works recognized for its European paintings, collection of prints and drawings and modern and contemporary American and Latin American art.

Hours: Closed Mondays. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Admission: Free on Thursdays. Free for UT ID holders and museum members. $9 for adults. $7 for seniors. $5 for college students with valid ID. $5 for ages 13-21. Free for 12 and under, must be accompanied by an adult.

The Contemporary Austin

The Contemporary Austin has two sites: The Jones Center, in the heart of downtown Austin, and Laguna Gloria, a 12 acre lakeside site. They commision unique, temporary, site-responsive projects by an international roster of contemporary artists with projects installed at both venues, sometimes simutaneously.

Hours: Jones Center: Closed Mondays. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays. 12 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Laguna Gloria Gallery: Closed Mondays. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays.

Admission:  Free for museum members. $5 for adults. $3 for seniors and students. Free for under 18 and military. Free on Tuesdays. Applies to both locations.

Women & Their Work

For more than 30 years, Women & Their Work has brought contemporary exhibitions, performances and educational workshops created by women living and working in Texas and beyond to Austin.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays-Fridays. 12 to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Mexic-Arte Museum

Mexic-Arte Museum presents and promotes traditional and contemporary Mexican, Latino and Latin American art and culture.

The Harry Ransom Center features extensive collections of rare books, manuscripts, photography, film, art and the performing arts.
