Find your 'Wonderful' and 'White' Christmas
By Chris GarciaDec. 8, 2005
Bing Crosby — all suave silk and droop-eyed ease. Danny Kaye — jocund kinetics and puckish squawks. Then there's Jimmy Stewart, a lanky rod of righteous bluster, scarecrow of golly-gee virtue and impeccable gallantry.
Sounds like nice company for the holidays, these weeks of underscored goodness and sanctioned merriment. Join the classic Hollywood stars in a pair of seasonal chestnuts: Crosby and Kaye (and, of course, Rosemary Clooney) in "White Christmas" and Stewart (and, of course, Donna Reed) in "It's a Wonderful Life." They play the Paramount Theatre from Sunday to Wednesday.
You know the movies as completely as the savor of eggnog, but let us sum up: Irving Berlin's songs, including the title tune, wreath "White Christmas," while Stewart's desperate wholesomeness is put on trial by the heavens in Frank Capra's evergreen "Wonderful Life."
"White Christmas" shows at 4:10 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday.
"It's a Wonderful Life" plays at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Tuesday.
At 713 Congress Ave. 472-5470.
