Yet another Austinite has landed on a reality show.
This time it’s Thomas Brown, co-founder of Paradisa Homes, a local custom home builder.
He’s one of the contestants on HGTV’s “Brother vs. Brother,” a “Property Brothers” spinoff where teams led by brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott square off each week, hoping to outdo each other when it comes to remodeling homes.
Brown made the cut on this season’s first and second episodes and will be back again this Sunday at 8 p.m.
At the same time, Brown is planning to launch The Agency Austin, a new real estate agency, this summer.
“Because I’ve been involved on all sides of a real estate transaction, I was drawn to the casting call for ‘Brother vs. Brother’ last fall,” he said. “I got my start in the mortgage banking industry and was quickly drawn to buying and flipping homes in the late ’90s.
“In 2010, we launched a home renovation business and quickly realized that there was opportunity in the marketplace to build custom homes in mature neighborhoods around Austin. Shortly thereafter, I got my Texas real estate license so I would have the ability to sell the homes we were building. Now, much like the ‘Property Brothers,’ I work in both real estate sales and new home construction.”
While filming has wrapped, Brown’s not able to say how he did, so you’ll have to tune in to find out. One thing he can say, though, is that he hopes “Brother vs. Brother” won’t be his only stint on reality TV.
“My real dream is to find a way to bring a reality TV series to Austin and showcase some of the great projects happening around town,” he said.
