A meteorologist who filed a racial discrimination suit against KXAN after she was let go by station management has landed a new job with a nationally televised cable network.

Rhonda Lee will soon join Denver-based WeatherNation, according to a Facebook post.

Lee sued KXAN in 2012, claiming she was “repeatedly subjected to crude and insensitive remarks about her race” and that she was intentionally excluded from station events and advertisements.

A federal judge dismissed the case earlier this year.

After leaving KXAN, Lee landed at KTBS in Shreveport, La. She was fired, though, after responding to a Facebook post that criticized her hairstyle. Her dismissal made national headlines, landing her appearances on CNN and the syndicated “Steve Harvey Show.”

Lee said in her Facebook post that she’s uncertain when she starts her “dream job” at WeatherNation.

“I will unfortunately be leaving the ArkLaTex in a few weeks and moving to Denver,” she wrote. “It breaks my heart to leave all of the friends I have made over the past almost 3 years. The world, but in particular *my* corner of the world I called home-- the ArkLaTex-- supported me through it all and for that I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL!”

WeatherNation can be found on DirecTV channel 361. It’s not currently available on any of the other cable and satellite providers in Central Texas.
