Radio ratings: Bob FM is Austin’s No. 1 station

By Gary Dinges

Bob is doing a mighty fine job.

Austin’s 103.5 KBPA-FM, better known as Bob FM, is — for a second straight month — the city’s No. 1 radio station, according to newly released Arbitron ratings.

The funky station, which plays music — new and old — from a variety of genres, topped usual frontrunners 100.7 KASE-FM and 96.7 KHFI-FM. They wound up in second and third places, respectively.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled that Austin continues to embrace the musically diverse and unique Austin presentation that is Bob FM,” program director Krash Kelly said. “The Bob FM staff is having a great time putting it all together, and we couldn’t be happier that the audience continues to enjoy it.”

Bob FM debuted nine years ago and has, over the years, consistently ranked high among the advertiser-coveted demographic of listeners ages 25-54, but this is the first time the station has occupied the top spot overall.
