One of the hottest dramas on primetime TV appears to be en route to Central Texas.

NBC’s “Revolution,” currently shot in Wilmington, N.C., will relocate to Austin this summer, according to a letter Eric Kripke, the show’s creator, sent to about 300 members of the production crew.

The letter was first obtained by the Star-News, Wilmington’s daily newspaper.

“This is not a decision that was made easily or taken lightly,” Kripke said. “We agonized over it. And we really regret losing such a terrific crew. Seriously.”

Kripke’s letter doesn’t indicate why “Revolution” is moving, but the head of the local film commission said that the show was having trouble finding locations to shoot.

“It's a good thing that the town doesn't have that many vacant buildings, but visually, they can only use a location so many times,” Wilmington Regional Film Commission Director Johnny Griffin told the Star-News.

“Revolution,” a science-fiction series set in a world without electricity, wraps up its freshman season this month. It airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on KXAN.

NBC announced this week that the show will move to Wednesdays at 7 p.m. when it returns this fall.
