Now open: aRoma Italian Kitchen & Bar on S. Lamar and Doc's Motorworks in Central Austin

aRoma Italian Kitchen & Bar opened at 3404 S. Lamar Blvd. in the 704 Apartment Complex next door to the legendary Broke Spoke. The restaurant, open for happy hour and dinner, has a menu centered on Neapolitan pizza and homemade pasta. Happy hour features ½-off pizzas and $1 glasses of sparkling wine. The restaurant is helmed by chef Jason Garcia, who has worked at notable San Antonio restaurants Le Reve and Il Sogno, and Dave Whitney, longtime director of operations at Threadgill’s. aRoma is open from 4 p.m. to midnight daily, with happy hour running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Doc’s Motorworks (1106 W. 38th Street) opened about two months ago in the space formerly occupied by Waterloo Ice House.
