Slake Café is expanding operations at its 120 E. 7th St. location. The café, which took over the Bakerman’s space just off Congress Avenue last year, will add 1400 square feet and expand to the corner of 7th and Brazos streets. The café recently brought in former Olivia pastry chef Taff Mayberry to create a new menu of sweets and baked goods, including red velvet cupcakes, Apple turnovers, dream bars, lemon bars, macaroons, croissants and new breads.
Slake will remain open during renovations. When the café completes its expansion, it will add a full-service bar, a happy hour (possibly available from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and a new menu that focuses on locally sourced products.
