Following the success of his online YouTube series, BBQ With Franklin, barbecue titan Aaron Franklin is getting his own TV show. Austin PBS affiliate KLRU-TV will create and distribute a television show of the same name. The show will explore the history and culture of BBQ and run concurrently with the online series, which will continue to focus on barbecue cooking instruction.

“‘BBQ with Franklin’ explores the counterculture of barbecue, where old school meets new school,” KLRU’s creative director and series executive producer Sara Roberton said. “It’s the tried-and-true methods passed down over years, the joys of showcasing local ingredients and the folks who say ‘Brisket is my Spirit Animal.’”

KLRU will work with Austin-based Rocket Science Video to help produce and direct the series, which is slated to start airing in 2015.
