Hickory Street closed on Congress Avenue last year, and owners intended to reopen in the bar and grill in North Austin this year. Plans have changed.

Co-owner Brendan Puthoff says that instead of moving Hickory Street north, the group will open Fork & Vine at 3010 W Anderson Ln. near Shoal Creek Boulevard. The New American restaurant helmed by chef Camden Stuerzenberger will focus on small plates and a robust wine list stewarded by a Level II sommelier. Dick Clark Architecture is designing the space.

The group takes ownership of the space, formerly home to Casa Chapala, on March 1 and hopes to open in June.

Puthoff announced this week that his group’s Third Base sports bar on West Sixth Street has closed, due in part to the lack of late hours, but he says the suburban locations in Northwest Austin, Round Rock and Southpark Meadows are “tremendously successful.”

“We’re very excited about the long term health and growth of Third Base and we look forward to doing what we do best at our other locations: providing our customers with not just a relaxed and technology-driven sports watching experience but also being a vibrant happy hour and nightlife destination,” Puthoff said.

The group also opened their second Mighty Bird location at 2900 W. Anderson Ln. in January. Puthoff says they will begin scout new locations for expansion later this year.
