This year will be the last for the Chuy's Hot to Trot 5K. After 30 years, Elvis will leave the race course for the final time May 3.

"With the over saturation of the race circuit and the expense that goes into production, we've had too much fluctuation in the donation amount," said race director Brooke Cox. "Our main goal has always been to raise money for a great cause, and we think an in-store campaign will be more effective in collecting funds for local charities."

The race has been staged annually since 1984.

The Hot to Trot features a mostly flat course, with timed and fun run categories for the 5K and a Kid K for children 12 and under. Chuy the Redfish and Elvis will make an appearance.

Over the years, the event has raised more than $105,000 for Special Olympics Texas. Money is used to provide year-round training and athletic competition for more than 4,500 people with intellectual disabilities.

"Special Olympics has been an amazing partner and though the race is ending, we look forward to supporting them in other ways year-round," Cox said.

The 2014 Chuy’s Hot to Trot 5K & Kid K is scheduled for May 3 at Chuy’s Arbor Trails, 4301 West William Cannon Drive. The Kids K starts at 7:45 a.m.; the 5K starts at 8:15 a.m. Entry fee is $24 for the timed 5K, $21 for the 5K fun run or $13 for the Kids K. To register, go to www.chuys.com/#/events .
